Closures, works, hearings, tenders and elections. Every notice carries the date it goes up and the date it comes down, and it comes down on that date whether or not anyone remembers it.
No notices are in effect.
This concept has not been given any current notices by the Village, and it will not invent one. So this is what the page looks like when there is nothing to say — a clear sentence, not a blank region and not a five-year-old advisory left in place to fill the space.
The Village office is small and notices are not anybody's full-time job. So the system has to do the remembering. A notice cannot be published without an end date, and on that date it stops appearing on the front of the site and moves to the archive by itself.

Each status is a word before it is a colour. Nothing on this page depends on being able to tell green from red.

Three items below are real. They are on the Village's live website today, and two of them are still in its main navigation. In this concept they are here, in the archive, where they belong — kept readable, and out of the way.
A holiday closure notice from December 2025 is the newest news item on the Village's website. It is one of three news items published there in roughly seven years.
A closure notice is exactly the kind of thing this system handles without anybody touching it: posted in December with a January end date, gone in January, still findable here.
The Village's live site still carries a COVID-19 page as a top-level navigation item. It states that the Village "continues to monitor and follow the Provincial Health Orders during the COVID-19 global pandemic", and asks anyone who has "travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days" to take steps that are no longer in force.
Roughly five years stale, in the main menu, on the page a resident checks when they want to know whether the office is open. It also carries no date, so a reader has no way to judge how old it is.
A nomination package for a by-election held in 2024 is still advertised as a top-level item in the Village's navigation, two years after the nominations closed.
Election material has the clearest expiry date of anything a municipality publishes. It is set by statute before the notice is even written.
None of these are content failures. They are the same structural failure three times: the Village has no mechanism that takes something down. Publishing is easy on the current site; unpublishing requires somebody to remember, and in an office this size nobody has the time. A notice system with a required end date fixes all three at once, and keeps fixing them.
